Global Voices RSS

As part of my plans to start a new travel site, and part of a general upgrade, I just added an RSS feed from Global Voices to the sidebar of this blog. Global Voices uses a team of volunteer authors and part-time editors to “call attention to the most interesting conversations and perspectives emerging from citizens’ media around the world.”

It’s an edited/translated source, so it’s not entirely unbiased, but the fact that they use Ushahidi (a program that utilizes direct citizen reports) is a sign that some of their reports are grassroots and unfiltered.

The fact that they provide an outlet to citizen journalists who are at risk of being arrested, prosecuted or killed for their reports makes them an important source..
